Signature Dental strives to stay current with the multitude of technological advances that are occurring in dentistry. We are proud to have the CEREC technology in our office. CEREC allows us to create crowns and larger restorations in our office. CEREC uses the most advanced dental technology, including 3D video imaging and CAD/CAM technology. In layman’s terms, it is a computer-designed restoration for your tooth. The whole procedure takes between 1-2 hours and can be completed in one sitting.
Typically, a crown in the past would have required 2 appointments. The first appointment includes preparing the tooth, taking the mold, and fitting a temporary crown. During the second appointment, the temporary crown is replaced with the permanent one.
With a CEREC crown, the whole procedure can be completed in just one appointment. We will use video imaging technology to photograph the tooth and use CAD/CAM technology to design the crown. This 3D design is wirelessly transmitted to a milling machine that carves the restoration out of a vacuum formed a ceramic block. We will then adhere the new crown to your tooth. This eliminates the need to wear a temporary as well as a second visit.
