Many new parents wonder when they should take their child to the dentist for their first visit. The American Dental Academy recommends you do so when your child gets their first tooth or at their first birthday, whichever occurs first. National studies show that one in four children are getting cavities before age four with some as early as age two. During these early visits, we discuss ways to manage your child’s diet and promote good oral hygiene to prevent problems from the start. It is also the beginning of your child’s positive interaction with us and an opportunity for them to get accustomed to the dental chair experience before the launch of your child’s lifetime of healthy oral hygiene.
